TRUST in God’s Process

It seems that I learn the most about the recovery process when I am trying to teach it. When I am teaching others, showing charity, desiring that they know the truths I hold so dear, God feeds insight to my mind on how to better communicate. From this valuable insight, I have begun to trust that God will help me teach His lifestyle, which further improves my testimony.

Prayer is helpful when you declare to God your worry about being on the fence when it comes to keeping His lifestyle up. When you rise in the morning, the Spirit will feed more determination and fire into your soul on how to keep your thoughts free from negativity, resentment, and fear. So now you TRUST that God is going to provide you with a new awareness when your thoughts start wandering off in a negative direction.

If we are always allowing this negativity and resentful thinking to take up space in our minds, we aren’t trusting in God’s plan for us. If we are trying to control all people, places, things, and situations, then what follows is a loss of the Spirit because we are engulfed in fear. God cannot reside inside the fearful heart—He operates through faith and trust.

The Bible teach us, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3: 5–6).

There have been many times when I have been down on my knees in prayer and have asked God to give me more TRUST and faith in His recovery process. I wanted to change so badly. I learned early, however, that I was on His timetable and not mine; and that I’m still on His timetable. When I finally let go of my expectations for God, they turned into adoration. Nowadays, I realize that my current life experience is the right life experience as long as my life is planted firmly upon His rock-solid foundation of health.

I believe TRUSTING in God’s 12 step healing process to be the single greatest adventure one can participate in during this mortal experience. But building your life on the foundation of God becomes a high-adventure program that takes a great amount of CARING. This means changing our third-class habits to first-class habits, which isn’t easy, because trusting in the arm of flesh is far easier than trusting in God.

You hear it all the time from people who won’t believe the unexplainable. These people must see tangible results before they will believe. But God does not work that way, because our spiritual growth is linked to the development of our faith and TRUST in Him. Remember, we came here to this life to be tried and tested; and It wouldn’t really be much of a test if we knew all the answers.

I had always heard that Jesus Christ could help people change their lives dramatically. I was willing, but I did not fully TRUST that this was true. However, the willingness was all that it really took for God to start working on me. I started noticing spiritual events taking place in my life that I could never explain away. As I gave more place in my heart for faith and TRUST to grow, God started revealing more to me, and my testimony continued to grow. Today, my testimony is my most prized possession. When fear makes its way into my mind, the testimony I have for God shines bright and pushes the dark fear away.
