Season 2 Episode 2- From Nightly Blackouts and Multiple DUIs to a Life of Service and Discovering Inner Light

In the second episode of this season, we are blessed to hear from Ben W, a guest with the longest amount of continuous sobriety we have ever had on the Podcast...and someone with a solid Alcoholics Anonymous recovery story.Ben bares his soul and shares his humble upbringings in a racist, rural town with two moms as his parents and how his skin color and unique family structure led to tension and a lot of fights amongst other kids. He shares how his circumstances led him to start drinking and smoking marijuana at the age of 10.Ben describes the “spiritual awakening” he had the MOMENT he tried alcohol for the first time, and how, night after night, blacking out and doing it again the next day was something he loved. Ben’s drinking got him pulled over multiple times, landed him in jail, and into a near-death fistfight while driving. His story of recovery is a roller coaster and it took 10-years of mostly stagnant sobriety for him to have the most meaningful spiritual awakening of his sober life.  Once he had the awakening, he realized he has a limitless, unending light inside of him that IS God and how his purpose is to be a conduit for others to find that light.Ben’s story is filled with the principles taught in AA with a special detail to the power of the amends process. Ben has sponsored our co-host Frank and countless others, nearly 50% of which remain sober to this day (a statistic that would baffle anyone in the recovery field as the average percentage that remain sober after going to treatment hovers around 12%).We thank Frank for finding such a great guest and, of course, thank Ben for sharing his time and being such a great example to us all including all of you who listen. You are in for a treat....we especially encourage those of you who are AVERSE to AA to listen....you’ll be pleasantly surprised.- WAR Podcast TeamDustin, Don, and Frank
