Music Flips the Sad Script

Music CAN!

Music can flip our moods; music can make us cry; music can give us a vision of a new life; music can make us want to be a better person; music can direct our thoughts towards charity and family; music can direct our thoughts towards being thankful; music can lead us to being proactive and positive; music can help us through times of adversity; music can, in fact – get us high.

Music can take sad thinking and turn it into beautiful thinking. Music can bring priceless memories back into our minds; memories of the person we once used to be before addiction and depression crept into our lives. Music offers feelings of nostalgia—A KID AGAIN.

What old songs bring up emotions of a time well spent as a child? Songs that could make us cry.

Music Motivates!

Music can propel us to change by motivating us through its sounds and lyrics. We are talking about the type of music that uplifts the soul and enlightens the mind to capturing a higher order of thinking.

What type of songs are motivational and inspirational? There is such thing as negative music right? Music that we listened to when we were using would be negative right? We want to be listening to positive music that can lead our thoughts into a positive direction.

Go Create ART!

Create beautiful playlists, and then use those playlists to help you climb out of shadowy thinking. Even better, go exercise in scenery while listening to the good sounding playlist. Now, the endorphins from the exercise, coupled with the scenery and good music, leads to a heightened mind frame that feels peaceful, which then gratitude is able to enter. You See!—We went from a negative to a positive mindset in just a half hours time. The POWER of MUSIC!

  1. Create playlists that are linked to your old innocent memories (nostalgia, emotions, etc.)

  2. Create new playlists that are linked to your new spiritual experiences (hiking, jogging, walking, driving, gym). And then, in the future, you can lean on those same playlists to help you remember the peace you were experiencing while sober and living the SOAR lifestyle.

  3. Take notice of how a good song can improve your mood.

  4. Go for drives often and listen to good sounding music.

  5. Go for jogs and walks so that you can listen to more music.

  6. Train in the gym while listening to good music.

  7. Don’t get stuck on one style, switch it up—be creative!

  8. Listen to HEALTHY MUSIC! And don’t act like you don’t know the difference.
