Something Helping Us
Something Helping Us
Addiction is one of those things that takes form in our lives that is so powerful it can guide and direct our decisions regardless of what negative outcome may occur. It is so powerful at times that nothing else matters, except the substance you are chasing, and are addicted to. We can put family behind our addictions. We can lose touch with hobbies, and activities that used to play an integral part in our life, but now are lost due to the addiction.
Addiction causes us to lose sight of what's really important in our lives. It dulls our senses, steals our personality, diminishes our creativity, and even causes us to appear dark and unattractive from an outsiders perspective. It forces us to have zero light about us, and causes us to have a negative perspective of ourselves, then damaging and lowering our self esteem. We could go on like this for years; addicted, negative, and full of darkness. We think we are doing okay by just getting by, when in reality we have slowly become a different person. The world that once knew us, doesn't know us anymore. We have slowly been stripped of our free agency; we have zero light about us, and the Dragon is in complete control. He has convinced us that we cannot be happy without him and his substances in our lives. Now we are tired, depressed, and have lost all hope for the future. We don't know which way to go, and our self esteem and confidence is so low that we don't even dare to make a move. The only thing we can think to do; it's our last and final hope, is to get down on our knees and pray for help. But this prayer seems to be different than past prayers. This prayer is with heartfelt sincerity in hopes of receiving help and guidance in lifting ourselves out of the depths of our own personal Hell. We've tried everything from rehab and therapy, to self help and meditation books. This prayer is our last hope for help; and it's not even help we can physically see. Our only hope is to put our faith in the Invisible Hand by turning our life over to Him; hoping, knowing, and believing that he will change us even though we cannot see Him; it requires a diligent effort on our part through an active pursuit based solely on faith.A few days go by and we continue to make this type of desireful prayer an integral part of our life. Then a few weeks go by like this, and even months; during which we have been guided, through prayer, to influential books, books about the Invisible Hand. The Dragon is still ever present, but as we read, study, and ponder these powerful books, his voice gets put on the back burner for a time.A few more months go by, and we have now been guided to spiritual places to pray and read our books of influence. We wake up early, eagerly excited about going to that spiritual place and putting those wonderful concepts and thoughts into our minds. We have gotten even better at prayer, and our testimonies and faith have grown because we have tested the unseen. We can feel The Invisible Hand guiding, and even nudging us along in our pursuit, causing us to become further motivated in continuing on this beautiful path.So the fight continues...-Hawk
