Anxiety Addiction Relationship
Anxiety Addiction Relationship
Part 2
"This rapid heart rate, worry, stress and lack of sleep isn't going to get me"
Everyone, regardless of what's going on in their life deals with some form of stress and anxiety: anxiety from work; anxiety from money; anxiety from change; anxiety from being uncomfortable, or bored; anxiety from life's difficulties. I can't help but think that there’s a simple cure when it comes to anxiety, and it doesn't come in the pill or drink form. Yes, the pill or drink form does work, however it just creates another problem, and that problem is addiction. The pill or drink form of relief is the easy way out, but then it becomes the hard way out if you understand what I'm saying. It's easy to come home, have a few drinks to take the edge off, and then maybe a Xanax or vice versa. It's easy in the sense that it does work for a time, but it's also hard in the sense that your brain will learn this pattern all to well; creating an addiction cycle that will be hard to get out of.People get on anti-anxiety medication all of the time to handle their stress, which then only leads them to more stress down the road. Slowly but surely their day continues to get cut short by the tranquilized state they now crave. The nights become one big blur, that is- if they even remember the night. It's almost as if their nights, or even days are skipped, where their body moves on, but their mind gets erased; they go on auto pilot mode. Complete days and nights are forgotten, where their reality and state of being becomes less and less. During reality, they are a shadow of a human being, and almost non-functioning. They can't be happy, because their chemical makeup is all out of whack. The little bit of anxiety they once new, has now been replaced by complete numbness, where they don't even have the ability to feel life anymore. Now the thinking in this persons mind has totally changed. They are convinced that medication is the answer to all of their problems, and the Dragon loves to have them believe so. Now they feel as if they need something to help them with their self induced depression, such as: Prozac, Wellbutrin, Lexapro, or Zoloft. The relationship between this person and their doctor has become a bit of a feeding frenzy; them feeding their doctor full of non-sense, and their doctor feeding them their pills. This then leads to the patient doctor touch and go method, where neither doctor or patient never really look to fix the problem, only to feed the problem further through increased medication. The problem with these tranquilizers and depression medications is that they lock people down in their mind. Once they get on them for a time, it becomes hard to grasp ever living a life without them. They are now convinced that they need this medication at all times, and in all places. The Dragon has now successfully persuaded this individual into thinking that Depression and Anxiety is a part of them now, and that they will never be rid of their powerful grip. Now I realize that there are a lot of people out there who do in fact struggle with Depression and Anxiety at a high level; however, I also know that there are a lot of people out there who get put on medications such as these who don't necessarily need to be on them. What happens next is that these medications change the way these people perceive themselves, in which they become locked in to thinking on a more distorted, and even tranquilized level. Now in their mind they struggle with depression; now in their mind they can't sleep without pills, and they are insomniacs; now in their mind they can't be happy without pills; now in their mind they can't relax without pills; now in their mind they can't wake up without pills; and the list goes on and on. People can go from feeling a little stress and anxiety, to becoming locked up in a prescription bottle for the rest of their life.Further and further they get trapped in this web of lies, and further and further they go on in losing touch with who they really are. What started out as a little stress and anxiety that could have been cured by a little exercise and nutrition has now progressed into a lifelong battle where their days and nights now revolve around medication.Sleep also seems to be a big problem for people; it's seems like everyone wants to sleep in a comatose state, where they hope to get that perfect eight hours of sleep. If they can't get that perfect eight hours of sleep they are then convinced that they need to take a pill, or even drink something. Problem with this way of thinking is that these tranquilizers and sleep medications become easier and easier to take earlier and earlier. It also becomes easier to take more as their tolerance increases; then it becomes easier to swallow them down with alcohol, which then, as mentioned before, leads to autopilot mode where no remembrance of the previous evenings activities has taken form, causing the nights and days to be intertwined in a foggy dark haze, leaving the individual lost and confused as of to what life is really all about. This happens all too often to good people. Stress and anxiety are apart of life. You aren't always going to feel good. You’re going to be stressed out at times, and even depressed; you have to learn to deal with stress and anxiety without looking to be prescribed something, or self medicate. You don’t need to jump to conclusions on how you diagnose yourself. If you feel down, depressed, and have anxiety - get moving. A little bit of depression and anxiety can be cured if you would only implement some exercise into your daily routine. Let’s be honest, if exercise came in the pill form everyone would be prescribed it, therefore, if you want to feel better - get moving, and be physically active. The more intense your physical activity becomes, an increase in feelings of accomplishment will take form in your mind, leading you to an enlightened level of thinking. If you feel like you’ve accomplished something you start to feel good about yourself; if you feel good about yourself, you are more resilient when stress and depression creeps into your life. You can't let the hardships of life lead you to a script or a bottle. You have to be graceful and learn to rely on spirituality to feel that void during challenging times. Going into auto pilot mode, and cutting your days and nights short is no way to live life. Don’t let stress and anxiety trick you into thinking that you need to take something for them. The Dragon would have you believe so because he wants nothing more than for you to make zero progress in life. He wants you at home in a numbed mind state so you’ll never have the opportunity to make a difference. Exercise and being physically active is a gift from the Invisible Hand; look to use this gift as much as possible, for through it, a cure for stress, depression, and anxiety can be found.-HawkClick Here for todays Gym Experience
