Old Memories

Old Memories

Dustin Hawkins

Going to old parks; or the visiting of old neighborhoods; or going to places of old, that will assist you in the sparking up of childhood memories, and even positive memories that can lift your mood, then helping you to remember when you were innocent as children are innocent.

There are places still in this world that have not changed much. An old park in an old neighborhood has not changed much, only the landscaping is far more mature, making that old park a magical park, and even a far more magical park because of that very fact.Where I'm going with this is unique, and hopefully you can follow me. The mind and memory are so powerful that even a smell can trigger a memory of a time that seemed to be long lost, but because of the power of the mind, those old memories can be brought back, and can even lift our mood, then giving us thankful thoughts concerning a time that seemed to be forgotten. The memory is a powerful force when it comes to our addictions, but why can't the memory be just as powerful in the remembrance of the old? - Or the remembrance of our innocent youth, which then can spark in our mind a positive remembrance, allowing for gratitude and peace to unfold within our soul. Our addictions have caused us to forget what life is all about, and when these old memories start surfacing from an old park we may have visited, we then start seeing how we used to see when we were children, for that's the power of the memory. The relationship between these old memories and spirituality can't go unnoticed. I think God wants us to remember times of old, and then go back to the basics of it all. He wants us taking a trip down memory lane often, where we can remember our innocence so that He can burrow the slightest amount of hope within our hearts and minds to where we might let that hope blossom into something real, and even lasting. He wants us to become kids again, innocent in our ways, and free from the world - and even free from addiction.I have fond memories as a kid, walking down to the river, past the railroad tracks, through the brush where we would go fishing, swimming, and just hang out all day at the river. As I recollect these past events, I can't help but see a glimpse of that young kid that I used to be, where I was free. Now as I go down to that same area as an adult I am filled with joy because of those old time memories; and the further along I go in striving to overcome my worldly ways, the closer I get to becoming that young innocent kid again. I think this is the ultimate way to be healed, and is the way that the Invisible Hand of Help has provided for us to overcome our addictive mind set. We have to recollect the past often, and then create experiences for ourselves that will assist us in that recollection. The more often we put positive thoughts into our mind of a time well spent, then the better chance we have at seeing past our addiction, and even feeling free and at peace again. Addiction seems to be habits that have been learned all too well within our mind. With that being said, why can't we relearn our childhood innocence? Why is it that just because we are getting older in age, and older physically, that we think we can't be young and innocent in our mind again? Not young and innocent in maturity levels, but young and innocent when it comes to enjoying life's simplest intricacies. As kids, everything was simple. We didn't always feel like everything had to be a better time. When there was downtime, we dealt with it, for we knew no other way. When the fishing was slow, we hung out in the shade under a tree and waited. We played basketball by ourselves, or we hung out with friends in a backyard eating apple’s from an apple tree, conversing - and even laughing. The fact of the matter is-is that when we were kids we were actually more mature than we are now. Our addictions have made us immature in that we can't see the simple nature of life anymore, and our attention span has regressed due to the taking of our mind out of reality all too often. When we were kids we were not yet tainted; therefore we hadn't allowed too much to enter. Now as young adults and adults, we have allowed too much to enter into our minds, and that too much - has proved to be too much, causing our old childhood ways to be lost, and even forgotten.Go find those old memories by creating experiences for yourself that will help you relearn that old way of life. Don't be afraid to be unique. You might be surprised as of to what you might find along the way. You might find a way to be young and innocent again, free from your addictive mindset. Click to go to todays Remote Experience
