Where you finally come to notice that when you take yourself out through the worldly high-that it drives away the spiritual high, then leaving you empty and without hope, since the worldly high is but a fake glimpse of happiness that cannot last. So now on the days that follow after a relapse you have to crave to get that spiritual high back into your system in the same way of how you craved to put the world into your system.  If we can come to understand this deep fundamental truth, then we can grow to love the spiritual high the most, then outweighing the craving in the mind for the worldly high, then helping us to beat worldly cravings because the spiritual high will now be our favorite high, which is a high that can last and will lead us towards achieving and progressing.
It is like the addict who gets clear, starts seeking the ways of the spiritual, but fails to act in spirituality, where no action to live an obedient lifestyle takes place, therefore, they never come to feel what it can feel like to achieve the spiritual high due to their actions and way of life being out of line with the way of life that spirituality promotes.
There is no sorrow in the mix for an individual like this, where they fail to grasp onto the concept of what it takes to truly change their heart. Feeling sorrow is an important piece to the recovery puzzle, and when one fails to ever really feel sorrow for the way that they have acted then they fail to ever really grasp on to the concept of spirituality and the way of life that it promotes. When you offend spirituality then it is important to feel sorrow and even regret, then asking for forgiveness, with having a broken heart and a contrite spirit- in hopes of that spiritual peace entering into your heart once again. If there is no sorrow, and if there is no asking for forgiveness, then there is not the necessary spiritual work taking place in your life that has the capacity to change your heart. Yes- it is true that one can go on and be spiritual in the way of meditation and nature, which is great in its own way; but to truly use spirituality to help sway you away from making poor decisions with your addiction-then you must come to believe that when you offend spirituality by not walking its obedient path-then spiritualities peace will withdraw from you; and the only way to get it back is to feel sorrow, even recognizing that what you did was wrong, and then diligently working with all of your might, mind, and strength to get yourself back in line with the way of life that spirituality promotes, then wrapping up the process of true repentance. If you want to be a spiritual person then you must be a charitable person where you turn away from yourself more often than you do towards yourself. Charity is a gift of the spiritual, and the one who can come to obtain this beautiful gift is the one whose circle of influence will grow, then creating a character of substance and depth. I feel as if charity is the single greatest gift that we can come to obtain in this life, however, as mentioned before- the only way to have such a gift added unto our character is by watching how we act; being cautious of what we think about and even how we speak; and most importantly, how we choose to react to certain situations. Carrying around contention in our minds would be the opposite of being a charitable person since contention won't allow for charitable thinking to unfold within our minds. Contention brings negativity and even ill feelings, therefore, when contention creeps into our mind we must push it out just as fast as it came in, then trying to force the charitable concepts back into our mind frame. We have to watch what we think about so that we can be open minded towards others weaknesses so that we won't react in a way that may be hurtful, then offending our most precious gift of charity. Learn to give people the benefit of the doubt. If someone is short or rude to you there is no need to be short or rude back, but soften your way of thinking, even having the understanding that whatever the reason for their rudeness must be coming from something sad that they may be dealing with. Give people a chance, even if they won't give you a chance. Be kind in your heart always, for if you are-then your addiction will never get loud again since the kindness of your soul will keep your personality slow and humble. The loud personality is not the spiritual personality, but is the selfish personality that is looking more inward than it is outward. Be one that looks outward, and on towards others needs.Be kind and helpful, always searching for opportunities to help someone out. If a lady's car is broken down in the middle of the intersection, then get out of your car and go help her to safety, as apposed to just driving by her as so many seem to do.
