The Last Scene
The Last Scene
As I analyze this short story I can't help but recognize the slow deceiving process that's involved. It starts with the party scene; the Monday Night football scene, or whatever, where only alcohol seems to be the main source, and maybe a little bit of weed. The alcohol and weed routine can carry on for a time, but eventually leads to trouble through a DUI, or a possession charge. This charge scares us momentarily so we clean our act up for a season, but then we forget, and the scene draws us back to Her. When we go back, it's fun again, but we crave more because our expectations seem to be higher due to the momentary lay off. We want more out of the scene than ever before; it's just doesn't seem to be enough. Now Coke comes into the picture; and then finally the introduction of the narcotic Roxicontin, which is an opiate based drug that has the capability of completely changing the scene. With Opiate now coming onto the scene, everything slowly starts to change. We stay somewhat connected to the other scene for a time, but slowly the scene shifts to that of a more secluded and dark scene. We are now trapped in the dark world of the Opiate. The weekends have completely changed. Sitting home on Friday and Saturday Nights really aren't that big of a deal anymore; and Opiate lies to us, telling us that we are better because of Him. "You aren't out drinking anymore." - "Look at you, you're staying home, and I can make you content to do so."- He tells us.Opiate lies to us, telling us that we are better because of Him. He makes us think that because we aren't out partying and drinking anymore that all is well. He makes us think that we are better at out job; He makes us think we are better at family get togethers; He makes us think that we work harder now in our daily lives; He makes us think that our communication skills are better than before; He makes us think that we are more confident than before; He makes us think that we have no problems or stress. What Opiate doesn't tell us, or make us think about - is the fact that He's slowly stealing our free agency away. He doesn't make us think about the troubles that are associated with His dark world. He doesn't tell us that we will become less confident in ourselves; and that our self esteem will slowly diminish into nothing. He doesn't tell us about the financial crisis he will lead us and our family to. He doesn't tell us about the relationships that will be damaged; and the trust issues that will incur. He doesn't tell us about the loss of friendships and hobbies. He doesn't tell us about the overall loss of a positive outlook on life in general. He doesn't tell us that His plan is to eventually lead us to destruction of self; and even death.I guess the point I’m trying to get across to the reader is that this game is a process that is led and guided by the Dragon. Everything seems to be a process; and for some the process doesn’t progress into anything much; but for others, this process leads to trouble, self destruction, and even death.I’m so tired of hearing about young kids, and even adults OD-ing and dying. I’m so tired of families being ripped apart because of these worldly substances; substances that are thought by many to be no big deal at first, but then the process of addiction takes form, leading them to their destruction. You can’t help but recognize what’s going on these days with the scene. You can’t help but recognize how bad it’s gotten; and that poor traditions are taking shape from one generation to another. It’s becoming common and ordinary to get into pills and narcotics at a young age. What people don’t understand is that if your kid is popping pills, especially at a young age, he or she is a step away from putting a needle in their arm; and that’s the cold hard truth of it all, whether people want to believe it or not.Going back to the process of it all; people want to say that Marijuana is a gateway drug – and I agree with them. However, I would also have to say that prescription drugs are a flood gateway drug; meaning that they set the brain in motion towards hard core addiction faster than any other substance – especially for the young user.Prescription drugs have become the Dragon’s greatest tool in leading this generation of kids to their demise. “It’s okay to take them right? – “They’re not illegal if I have a prescription.” – “I’m not drinking alcohol or smoking weed.” –“No one knows.”I’ve felt the consequences of these pills in my own life; and I’ve watch numerous of my friends struggle for years – a few have even died, and I’m tired of it all - which is why I’m so passionate about making a difference. If you are currently struggling with these fake worldly substances, it’s not to late to make a change; you don’t have to live this way. Now is a good time of year to reevaluate your addiction, and look to do something about it. Don’t procrastinate this process, or five more years may go by and you’ll still be thinking about the change you hope to make. Just remember that this game is a process, and regardless of where you start, or where you’re at in it, the Dragon’s goal is to lead you down the dark road of addiction; and addiction is not just something you’re able to just turn off one day and be done with. Just like the process you went through to become an addict, there is also a process of un-becoming an addict. And unfortunately this process takes a lot more time and effort. This process becomes a lifelong pursuit to overcoming it. This process is full of tears, heartache, relapse and frustration; but it is a process that is doable. The WAR Lifestyle can help you…Challenge yourself to live it to the fullest – I know I am. -HawkClick Here for part 1: The SceneClick Here for part 2: The Scene Continued
