Weekend Experience

Be an Athlete

NOTE: Before going to the track and beginning this experience you are going to need some form of recovery for after the workout (Apple, almonds, recovery shake, etc.) You are also going to need your scriptures. For the optimal experience, I'm promoting that you do this around 7:30 pm, though any time will do. There's something magical about the last two hours of day light in the summer. Also, if you can't do this workout in it's entirety just scale it down to your ability and fitness level. Think outside the box, and don't not do a form of this workout just because you don't feel like you are physically able to. Scale the workout to your ability, and have a good experience. A. At a track Run 1 mile - 4 laps @ 90%       +rest 5 minutesB. On the football field perform a 100 yard latter for time. Run 10 yards and back, 20 yards and back, 30 yards and back, and so on and so forth for the entire length of the football field, then totaling 100 yards.       +rest 5 minutesB. Back on the track Run 1 Mile - 4 laps @ 90%       +C. Cool down: walk an additional two laps; while walking think about all of the things that you are thankful for. Analyze how you are feeling after the workout. Where are your thoughts at? Are they lifted? Are you in a better mood?       +D. Still at the track: Drink your recovery shake, or eat your food and refuel yourself. Find a shady spot at the track, under a tree or wherever, refuel, and then read your scriptures. Read your scriptures with a real intent to learn,-and tie this scripture study in with prayer. It's important to tie study such as this in with prayer; it makes for a completely different experience.
