God is our Heavenly Father, and just like any father when it comes to their children, He is forgiving and only wants to help us to be better, and to get better. Yes He gets sad, and even disappointed just as any father gets sad and disappointed, but he wants to work with us, even tutoring us on how to overcome our addiction. When we relapse, we need to work with him, asking him to help us to not keep going, but to get back on his path. I know that my Dad would never give up on me no matter how far down I go, therefore, I know that the same holds true from my father in heaven as well-in that He would never give up on me no matter how far off his path I may seem to wander. It is us who give up on him, not him giving up on us. "Please God Help me to stop. I know that I made a poor decision when deciding to partake of Opiate once again, but please don't leave me, and help me to not keep going; help me to stop after this time; help me to be diligent in trying to maintain a relationship with you because I know that Opiate and the Dragon are now going to try and convince me to stop working on my relationship with you.  Please help me to keep reading and studying about you and your wonderful way of life; please help me to keep working out and eating healthy; please help me to not go further down Opiates path, but to remain on your path as I have been doing these past 4 months. Thank you for all that you do for me and my family, and please forgive me for my weakness with Opiate. - Amen" Assignment: What do you think about this concept? Do you like it? Do you think it's important to have a broken heart and a contrite spirit when we slip up with our addiction? Do we need to feel bad? Can you see that God will never give up on us just as our own father would never give up on us?
